a mysterious new chapter for the Addams family
The Addams family is about to become even more complicated.
One of the most intriguing additions to Wednesday season 3 is Eva Green, who will portray Ophelia Frump, Morticia Addams’ sister and Wednesday’s aunt. Netflix has confirmed Green’s role, but many details about Ophelia’s story are still being kept secret.
Her arrival is especially interesting because the new season is expected to explore more of the Addams family’s history. Instead of keeping the mystery focused entirely on Nevermore Academy, season 3 could bring Wednesday much closer to the secrets surrounding her own relatives.
who is ophelia?
Ophelia has been teased as an important figure in the Addams family, but the series has deliberately avoided revealing too much about her.
That leaves a major question surrounding her return: what happened to Ophelia before Wednesday ever knew about her?
For a character like Wednesday, a mysterious relative is almost impossible to ignore. If Ophelia knows something about Morticia, the Addams family or Wednesday’s supernatural abilities, it could give Wednesday an entirely new mystery to investigate.
And unlike previous cases, this one could be deeply personal.
eva green makes the mystery even bigger
Eva Green’s casting has also attracted attention because of her previous work with Tim Burton. She joins a growing season 3 cast that includes Winona Ryder, Lena Headey, Chris Sarandon and Noah Taylor.
Netflix has also teased that the upcoming season will introduce new students and teachers while exploring long-buried Addams family secrets.
That combination could make Ophelia more than simply another member of Wednesday’s extended family.
She could be the person who connects several of the season’s biggest mysteries.
what could this mean for wednesday?
Wednesday has spent much of the series trying to uncover secrets belonging to other people. Season 3 could turn that investigation inward.
If Ophelia has information that Morticia never shared with her daughter, Wednesday may have to question everything she thought she knew about her family.
And that could be far more dangerous than another mystery at Nevermore.
could ophelia be the key to the biggest addams family secret yet?
