Ahead of its sophomore outing’s debut last summer, Netflix gave Wednesday season 3 a speedy renewal in July 2025, ensuring the kooky Addams family members would be returning for another supernatural mystery at Nevermore Academy. After a nearly three-year delay between Wednesday season 1’s fall 2022 premiere and season 2’s summer 2025 arrival, the quick renewal inspired hope of a shorter wait for season 3. However, filming didn’t commence until early the following year, with Netflix having offered few updates on season 3’s progress and intended debut until today.
After kicking off production this February, Netflix has announced that Wednesday season 3 has officially wrapped filming as of September 30. In addition to confirming that production has ended, Netflix shared a new look at Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams, showing the stoic main Wednesday character sitting at a desk in a black-and-white striped sweater writing on her typewriter.
While plot details for season 3 have largely been under wraps following the numerous twists and turns in Wednesday season 2’s ending, Jenna Ortega recently revealed more about when the upcoming episodes will take place and teased a complex component of Wednesday’s new familial conflicts. Ortega confirmed that Wednesday season 3’s timeline is set during Wednesday’s senior year at Nevermore Academy, leading her to deal with “more confrontational feelings regarding family and what it means to be an adult and what you see for your life.”
Meanwhile, Netflix and the cast of the series have also confirmed some big changes to expect in season 3, including some new locations. After the streaming service unveiled images of Wednesday Addams and Thing riding a motorcycle around Paris, France, seemingly continuing her search for Enid Sinclair (Emma Myers), Tyler Galpin actor Hunter Doohan further revealed that season 3 will show the secret Hyde sanctuary location that Isadora Capri (Billie Piper) was taking Tyler to at the end of season 2.
As Wednesday season 3 goes global, Netflix has confirmed several exciting new additions to the cast of the spooky Tim Burton-directed series, including some frequent Burton collaborators. Among the officially announced new cast members are Eva Green as Morticia’s sister Ophelia Frump, Winona Ryder as Tabitha, Chris Sarandon as Balthazar, Oscar Morgan as Atticus, and Kennedy Moyer as Daisy. Lena Headey, Andrew McCarthy, and James Lance have also joined in undisclosed guest roles.
Currently, Netflix has yet to announce a release date or window for Wednesday season 3. However, if following the release timelines of the show’s previous seasons, then Wednesday season 3 can be expected to premiere as early as late May or June 2027. Season 1 concluded filming in March 2022 before premiering eight months later, while season 2 finished production in early December 2024 and released on Netflix almost exactly eight months later.
The fate of Wednesday season 4 is also still unconfirmed as the series heads into post-production on season 3. With the next batch of episodes following Wednesday in her final year at Nevermore, the Addams Family spinoff show’s future is more uncertain than with previous outings. However, since season 2 wasn’t renewed until two months after the series debuted and season 3’s decision wasn’t made until a few weeks before the sophomore season dropped, a decision on season 4 isn’t expected to arrive until closer to season 3’s release.
