Netflix announced this morning that production has officially wrapped on Wednesday Season 3, sharing a new photo of Jenna Ortega (Scream, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice) back at her typewriter as Wednesday Addams.

WEDNESDAY 308 Unit 02298R C

Frankly, I think Wednesday is a really entertaining show. It’s whimsical, weird, and fun, and Ortega is phenomenal in the role. There’s more than enough here to warrant a third season. I’d love to see her bring this version of Wednesday to the big screen in a new The Addams Family movie. I don’t imagine that’s ever going to happen, but we can dream, can’t we?

For now, the next season has a pretty substantial cast joining her, including several familiar faces from Tim Burton’s movies.

As we previously reported, Winona Ryder (Beetlejuice, Stranger Things) joins Season 3 as Tabitha, reuniting with Burton and Ortega following Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.

Eva Green (Penny Dreadful, Dark Shadows) also joins as Ophelia Frump, Morticia’s long-missing sister and Wednesday’s aunt. That puts another Burton collaborator in the Addams family, with a character whose history is tied to the show’s expanding family mysteries.

The other announced newcomers include:

  • Chris Sarandon (Fright Night, Child’s Play) as Balthazar.
  • Noah Taylor (Preacher, Game of Thrones) as Cyrus.
  • Oscar Morgan (Gotham Knights) as Atticus.
  • Kennedy Moyer (Task, Roofman) as Daisy.
  • Lena Headey (The Purge, Game of Thrones).
  • Andrew McCarthy (St. Elmo’s Fire).
  • James Lance (Ted Lasso).

Dread Central previously covered Headey, McCarthy, and Lance’s additions as guest stars; details about their characters remain under wraps.

Netflix’s returning cast announcement also confirms the following familiar faces alongside Ortega:

  • Emma Myers (A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder) as Enid Sinclair.
  • Hunter Doohan (Your Honor) as Tyler Galpin.
  • Joy Sunday (Bad Hair) as Bianca Barclay.
  • Moosa Mostafa (The Last Bus) as Eugene Ottinger.
  • Georgie Farmer (The Evermoor Chronicles) as Ajax Petropolus.
  • Isaac Ordonez (A Wrinkle in Time) as Pugsley Addams.
  • Billie Piper (Penny Dreadful) as Isadora Capri.
  • Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo (Devs) as Sheriff Ritchie Santiago.
  • Victor Dorobantu as Thing.
  • Evie Templeton (Return to Silent Hill) as Agnes DeMille.
  • Luis Guzmán (Boogie Nights) as Gomez Addams.
  • Catherine Zeta-Jones (The Haunting) as Morticia Addams.
  • Joanna Lumley (Absolutely Fabulous) as Grandmama Hester Frump.
  • Fred Armisen (Portlandia) as Uncle Fester.

Netflix’s production announcement additionally lists Joonas Suotamo (Star Wars: The Last Jedi) and Liv Spencer (Beetlejuice Beetlejuice) among the Season 3 cast.

Creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar return as showrunners, with Burton again serving as an executive producer and director. Production began near Dublin in February, and Netflix has since teased a Paris detour with a behind-the-scenes image of Wednesday near the Eiffel Tower.

The full plot is still being kept quiet, but the creators have promised new students, new teachers, and more secrets from the Addams family’s past.

“We will be seeing more Addams family members and learning more family secrets in Season 3!” Millar told Netflix’s Tudum.

Netflix has not announced a premiere date for Season 3. The first two seasons are streaming now.
