The creators want to go deeper
The most revealing comments about Season 3 may not be about the new cast or locations at all. Co creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar have said their goal is to continue digging deeper into the characters while expanding the world of Nevermore and Wednesday. That suggests the new season will not only be concerned with creating another mystery but also with showing more of the people living inside that world.
Wednesday herself may become more complicated
The success of the character comes partly from how difficult she is to read. Wednesday often appears completely confident, even when she is dealing with situations she does not fully understand. A more character focused season could explore the difference between the image she presents and what she actually feels, without changing the personality that made her so distinctive.

The supporting characters have more stories to tell
Enid, Morticia, Gomez, Pugsley, Fester and other returning characters all enter Season 3 with their own unresolved circumstances. At the same time, the new cast gives the writers even more personalities to introduce into Wednesday’s world. The challenge will be giving those characters enough depth without allowing the story to lose its focus on Wednesday herself.
Family secrets could make the character work even stronger
The expansion of the Addams family gives the writers an opportunity to explore why Wednesday behaves the way she does. Her relationship with Morticia, her connection to Pugsley and the mystery surrounding Ophelia all provide different ways to examine her identity. Netflix has not revealed how much of this will appear in the final season, but the creators’ comments suggest character development will be a major priority.
Would you rather have Season 3 focus on a huge mystery or spend more time exploring Wednesday and her family?
