Jenna Ortega’s life as Wednesday Addams isn’t over yet. Netflix’s hit series Wednesday secured an early renewal for season 3—two weeks before season 2 premiered in August 2025. Here’s everything we know so far.
Is Wednesday confirmed to return for season 3?
Yes! On July 23, 2025, Netflix announced that Wednesday had been renewed for a third season.
In a statement, showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar spoke about the renewal. “It’s been a dark delight to watch Wednesday cast her spell over audiences across the globe—one deadpan quip at a time,” they said. “We’re beyond thrilled she’ll be returning to stalk the halls of Nevermore in season 3.”
Bela Bajaria, Netflix’s chief content officer, echoed those sentiments. “The undeniable impact of Wednesday resonated immediately with fans worldwide, driving it to the top of our charts as our most popular English-language TV show, and sparking cultural trends,” she said in a statement. “We are so proud of Al Gough, Miles Millar, Tim Burton, Jenna Ortega, and the entire Wednesday cast and crew for everything they’ve accomplished. On the heels of its highly anticipated season 2 return, we are thrilled to renew the iconic series for a third and to deliver more of what the fans love.”

Who is in the cast?
Cast members Jenna Ortega, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzman, Isaac Ordonez, Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, Evie Templeton, Isaac Ordonez, Joanna Lumley, Georgie Farmer, Moosa Mustafa, Victor Dorobantu, Fred Armisen, Billie Piper, and Hunter Doohan will all be coming back to the show.
On Nov. 25, 2025, Netflix confirmed that Eva Green (Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, Dark Shadows) will play Ophelia Frump and join the series as a regular. “I’m thrilled to join the woefully twisted world of Wednesday as Aunt Ophelia,” the actress told Netflix’s Tudum. “This show is such a deliciously dark and witty world; I can’t wait to bring my own touch of cuckoo-ness to the Addams family.”
On Feb. 23, 2026, Variety revealed that Tim Burton-favorite Winona Ryder will be joining the cast of Wednesday season 3 in the guest-starring role of Tabitha. “I am so happy that Winona has joined us; she fits right into this world,” Burton said in a statement. “And she’s a dear friend. I always feel lucky to work with her.”
Chris Sarandon (Dog Day Afternoon, The Princess Bride), Noah Taylor (Peaky Blinders, Game of Thrones), Oscar Morgan (A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, Gotham Knights), and Kennedy Moyer (Task, Roofman) were also added to the cast, per Deadline. Sarandon will play Balthazar, Taylor will play Cyrus, Morgan will play Atticus, and Moyer will play Daisy.
On April 9, 2026, Netflix revealed that Lena Headey (Game of Thrones, The Abandons), Andrew McCarthy (St. Elmo’s Fire, Brats), and James Lance (Ted Lasso, Black Mirror) are also joining the Wednesday season 3 cast as guest stars.
What will Wednesday season 3 be about?
In April 2026, Gough and Millar gave a little teaser for what fans can expect from the forthcoming third season. “Our goal for season 3 is the same as it is for every season: to make it the best season of Wednesday we possibly can,” Gough told Tudum. “We want to continue digging deeper into our characters while expanding the world of Nevermore and Wednesday.”
“We will be seeing more Addams Family members and learning more family secrets in season 3,” Millar added. In a statement, Gough and Millar elaborated on some other expected themes. “This time, [Wednesday] will unearth more of the school’s sinister secrets—and descend even deeper into the Addams family crypt,” they shared. “Or, as Wednesday would say: ‘Nothing brings a family together like a good exhumation.'”
But if you’re looking for specific plot details or casting announcements, you’ll have to wait a bit longer. “Sure, [I could tell you],” said Millar, “but then I’d have to bury you in a shallow grave.”
In a Sept. 12, 2025, interview, Millar told The Wrap to expect to see more of Wednesday outside of her school.
“We’ve slowly expanded the lore and there’s more,” he explained. “We love world-building. That’s something we’ve always loved to do in our shows and movies we’ve done. And there’s definitely potential to continue to expand and see more of this world, what it means to be an outcast in the world outside Nevermore.”
He continued, “There are other characters that we love and it feels like we’re just dipping our toe in this world and that it can only expand from here. So it’s actually really exciting as creators to be here and to chart the course of where it could go next.”
Where is Wednesday season 3 filming?
The third season of Wednesday was filmed near Dublin, Ireland. On April 20, 2026, the cast filmed scenes in Paris, too.

Has filming wrapped?
Yes. On September 30, Netflix confirmed that Wednesday season 3 wrapped production.
Wait—is a spinoff on the way, too?
Possibly! According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Wednesday team is discussing the possibility of a spinoff. “It’s something we’re definitely noodling,” Gough said. “There are other characters we can look at.”
Bajaria agreed: “There’s a lot to explore in the Addams Family,” she said.
Can I see a sneak peek?
Yes. After photos surfaced online of Ortega, Armisen, and Burton filming scenes for the show in Paris, the show’s official Instagram account shared a first look photo of Ortega and Thing together in the city with the Eiffel Tower as their backdrop. “From Paris, with dread,” the caption for the post read.
After Netflix announced that season 3 wrapped production, the streamer shared a new first look image of Ortega in costume as the show’s titular character, wearing a black-and-white sweater and working on her novel in front of her typewriter.
