Wednesday returned to our screens last summer, but Netflix knows fans are always hungry for more. Ahead of its sophomore season premiere, the streamer announced this summer that the series has already been renewed for a third season.
The series follows Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega), as the fan-favorite, deadpan daughter of the Addams family, a gothic and wacky brood that has seen multiple television and film adaptations since the original 1938 cartoon. With Wednesday, executive producer Tim Burton created a delightfully gothic world that follows the eldest Addams child as she aims to solve a murder mystery at her supernatural school, Nevermore.
Here’s everything we know so far about what’s to come at Nevermore Academy.

What will happen in season 3?
While plot details for the third season are still under wraps, we can assume what might be explored next following the season two finale. (Warning: spoilers are ahead!) Enid is currently stuck in her werewolf form and has run away towards the Canadian border, with Wednesday and Uncle Fester chasing her whereabouts down. Now that both of Tyler’s parents are actually dead, he is heading to a new community of fellow Hydes where their bond is strong enough to supplant the need for a master. Meanwhile, not all family secrets have been uncovered. The season 2 finale revealed not only that Morticia’s sister, Ophelia, is still alive, but that she has been living in the basement of Grandmama Hester’s estate. In fact, Hester pays her a quick visit just as she’s painting an eyebrow-raising message in her room: “Wednesday must die.”

Showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar shared in a press release, “It’s been a dark delight to watch Wednesday cast her spell over audiences across the globe—one deadpan quip at a time. We’re beyond thrilled she’ll be returning to stalk the halls of Nevermore in Season 3.”
They hinted at the plot of season three, saying, “This time, she’ll unearth more of the school’s sinister secrets—and descend even deeper into the Addams family crypt. Or, as Wednesday would say: ‘Nothing brings a family together like a good exhumation.’”
Will there be any new additions to the Wednesday cast?
Yes! Netflix announced in February 2026 that a number of new actors will join the cast for season three, including Ortega’s Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice costar Winona Ryder taking on the mysterious role of Tabitha.
“I am so happy that Winona has joined us, she fits right into this world,” series director and executive producer Tim Burton said in a statement. “And she’s a dear friend. I always feel lucky to work with her.”
In addition to Ryder, French actor Eva Green will take on the role of Wednesday’s aunt Ophelia while Chris Sarandon (Dog Day Afternoon, The Princess Bride), Noah Taylor (Peaky Blinders, Game Of Thrones), Oscar Morgan (A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, Gotham Knights), and Kennedy Moyer (Task, Roofman) also join the cast.
Where can I watch Wednesday?
Viewers can stream Wednesday seasons one and two all on Netflix. Season three does not yet have a release date, but will also be streamed exclusively on the streamer.
Wednesday season one originally premiered on Netflix in 2022 and currently holds the record for Netflix’s most-popular English language show of all time, which Netflix Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria nodded to in a press release. “The undeniable impact of Wednesday resonated immediately with fans worldwide, driving it to the top of our charts as our most popular English language TV show,” she said. “We are thrilled to renew the iconic series.”
