Wednesday Season 3 is moving into a new phase, and Jenna Ortega has hinted that the next chapter will be much more personal for the iconic Addams daughter.
Production on the third season is currently underway near Dublin, Ireland, with Ortega returning as Wednesday Addams. Netflix has also confirmed that the new season will expand the world of Nevermore while exploring more of the Addams family and its hidden history.
Wednesday Is No Longer Just Solving Mysteries
The biggest change may not be another supernatural villain or another mystery at Nevermore.
According to Ortega, Season 3 will explore the characters as they approach adulthood. The students are now seniors, meaning Wednesday and her friends are entering a period where family, identity and the future become increasingly important.
That could push Wednesday into unfamiliar territory.
For two seasons, she has largely relied on investigation, logic and independence. Season 3 appears ready to challenge those instincts by forcing her to confront questions that cannot simply be solved with clues.
The Addams Family Is Moving Closer to the Center
The creators have already teased that Season 3 will introduce more Addams family members and reveal additional family secrets.
That detail could significantly expand Wednesday’s story.
Instead of keeping the mystery focused entirely on Nevermore, the new season appears ready to investigate where Wednesday actually comes from and how her family history continues to influence her life.
With Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán returning as Morticia and Gomez, the Addams family is expected to remain an important part of the story.

A Bigger Cast Means More Secrets
Season 3 is also bringing an unusually impressive group of guest stars.
Winona Ryder, Eva Green, Chris Sarandon, Noah Taylor, Oscar Morgan and Kennedy Moyer have been announced, while Lena Headey, Andrew McCarthy and James Lance have also joined the cast.
The addition of so many established actors raises an obvious possibility: Wednesday’s next mystery may involve characters far beyond the usual Nevermore circle.
Jenna Ortega Is Still at the Center
Ortega has described Season 3 as a period in which Wednesday is beginning to think about adulthood and what comes next.
That gives the upcoming season a different emotional direction.
Wednesday may still be sarcastic, suspicious and fascinated by the macabre, but she is no longer simply a student investigating strange events. She is approaching a point where the choices she makes could shape the person she becomes.
And that could make Season 3 one of the most personal chapters of the series so far.
The mystery this time may not simply be who is hiding a secret — but what Wednesday discovers about herself.
