The world of Wednesday is getting another major star.
Winona Ryder has joined Season 3 in a guest role, bringing her back into the orbit of Jenna Ortega and director Tim Burton. The casting creates a particularly notable reunion after Ryder and Ortega appeared together in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, also directed by Burton.
From Beetlejuice to Nevermore
Ryder’s arrival is more than just another celebrity casting announcement.
Her connection with Burton stretches back decades, while Ortega previously played Ryder’s daughter in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. Now the trio is working together again in the strange and gothic world of Wednesday.
Burton has expressed his enthusiasm about Ryder joining the series, describing her as someone who fits naturally into the show’s world.
But Who Is She Playing?
That is where things become especially interesting.
Official details surrounding Ryder’s character have remained limited, leaving plenty of room for speculation about how she will fit into Wednesday’s story.
Season 3 is already expanding the show’s cast with several major performers, including Eva Green, Chris Sarandon, Noah Taylor and Lena Headey.
With so many new characters arriving at once, Ryder’s role could become another piece of a much larger mystery.
The Addams Family Story Is Getting Bigger
Netflix has confirmed that Season 3 will introduce more members of the Addams family and explore previously unseen family secrets.
That makes the mysterious new characters particularly intriguing.
Wednesday’s world is no longer limited to Nevermore Academy. Her family, her past and the secrets surrounding the Addams name are increasingly becoming part of the central story.
Production Is Already Underway
Season 3 is currently filming near Dublin, with Jenna Ortega back in the lead role.
A first-look image previously released by Netflix also teased Wednesday outside her familiar surroundings, including a potential Paris detour.
However, Netflix has not announced a specific premiere date. Current reporting indicates that fans should not expect the third season until 2027.
Until then, one mystery remains particularly tempting:
What exactly is Winona Ryder bringing into Wednesday’s already complicated world?
