The cameras are gone, but Wednesday’s story is far from over
After months of production, Wednesday Season 3 has officially wrapped filming, marking a major milestone for Netflix’s hit series. The final day of filming arrived on September 30, which happened to be a Wednesday, and Netflix celebrated the occasion with a new image of Jenna Ortega sitting at a typewriter in character. While the cameras may have stopped rolling, the story is now moving into the next stage, and fans are left with a much bigger question: what exactly has Netflix been hiding from us? Production for the new season took place around Dublin as well as Paris, suggesting that Wednesday’s next chapter could take her far beyond the familiar gothic halls of Nevermore Academy.
A season built around secrets
Netflix has revealed surprisingly little about the actual plot of Season 3, but the few details that have been confirmed already point toward a much larger story. Showrunners Al Gough and Miles Millar have teased new students, new teachers and the excavation of long-buried Addams Family secrets, meaning Wednesday may have to investigate mysteries that are much closer to home this time. Instead of simply uncovering another threat at Nevermore, the new season could force her to confront questions about the people she has known her entire life, particularly her mother Morticia and the mysterious family history surrounding her aunt Ophelia.

The new faces are hiding something
The mystery becomes even bigger with the arrival of an impressive group of newcomers. Winona Ryder, Chris Sarandon, Noah Taylor, Oscar Morgan, Kennedy Moyer, Lena Headey, Andrew McCarthy and James Lance are all joining the expanding cast, yet Netflix has intentionally kept many of their roles secret. That means fans already know which actors will appear, but still have very few clues about whether they will become allies, teachers, family connections or potential threats to Wednesday. With so many characters entering the story at once, Season 3 could turn Nevermore into an even more unpredictable place.
And then there is Ophelia
Perhaps the biggest mystery waiting for Wednesday is no longer at school. Eva Green is joining Season 3 as Ophelia Frump, Morticia’s long-missing sister and Wednesday’s aunt. Season 2 ended with a major revelation involving Ophelia, after Wednesday received a vision of her imprisoned at Grandmama Hester’s mansion. The creators have already said that Ophelia’s reemergence will hit the Addams family hard and serve as a major driver for Season 3, making her storyline one of the most important pieces of the new season.
The wait for answers begins now
With filming complete, fans are entering one of the most frustrating stages of the Wednesday wait: the period when production is finished but Netflix still refuses to reveal the biggest secrets. There is currently no exact premiere date announced, so the next major clues are likely to come through promotional images, a teaser and eventually a full trailer. Until then, the mystery surrounding Wednesday, Ophelia, Nevermore and the new characters remains almost completely intact.
Now that Season 3 has officially wrapped, what do you think Netflix is hiding as its biggest secret?
