After becoming a more prominent part of the story, Agnes DeMille has the potential to bring a different kind of tension to Wednesday’s world, especially if her admiration for the young detective becomes more complicated.
an unusual connection with wednesday addams
In a series filled with unusual students, secretive adults and supernatural mysteries, Agnes DeMille stands out because her connection to Wednesday is not built on a conventional friendship. Her fascination with Wednesday creates an interesting dynamic: she looks up to someone who rarely welcomes attention and often struggles to understand why other people become so invested in her life.
That difference gives Agnes a distinctive place in the story. Wednesday generally prefers to operate independently, keeping her plans private and avoiding unnecessary emotional attachments. Agnes, by contrast, can bring an outside perspective to Wednesday’s behavior and may interpret her actions differently from the people who know her best.
The relationship also offers opportunities for humor. Wednesday’s attempts to maintain distance could become increasingly difficult when someone is determined to remain involved in her world. Yet the dynamic does not have to remain comedic. As the mysteries grow more complicated, Agnes could become a character whose decisions have meaningful consequences.
admiration does not always mean agreement
One possible direction for Season 3 is to explore what happens when Agnes discovers that admiring Wednesday is different from understanding her. Wednesday’s methods can be secretive and occasionally reckless, particularly when she believes that solving a mystery is more important than explaining herself.
An enthusiastic ally might initially accept those decisions without question. Over time, however, Agnes could begin to develop her own opinions about what is right, what is necessary and when Wednesday has gone too far.
This would create a more interesting relationship than one in which Agnes simply follows Wednesday from one investigation to another. Independent judgment would allow Agnes to contribute something Wednesday cannot easily obtain from her usual circle of companions.
It could also create conflict without requiring either character to become a villain. Two people can share a goal while disagreeing about the best way to achieve it.

could agnes become useful to the next investigation?
Wednesday’s investigations frequently depend on noticing details that other people overlook. Agnes could offer a different set of observations, particularly if she pays attention to social relationships, unexpected behavior or information that Wednesday dismisses as irrelevant.
That does not mean she will automatically become Wednesday’s official investigative partner. The show’s writers have not confirmed the exact role Agnes will play in the third season. Nevertheless, her presence provides an opportunity to expand the way mysteries are solved at Nevermore.
A character who approaches problems differently can reveal weaknesses in Wednesday’s assumptions. Agnes might notice a connection that Wednesday overlooks, or she could question a theory that seems convincing but lacks sufficient evidence.
The result could be a more collaborative investigation in which Wednesday remains the central detective while learning that useful information can come from unexpected sources.
a character with room to grow
Agnes will be most effective if her storyline develops beyond her connection to Wednesday. Giving her personal motivations, independent challenges and meaningful decisions would help establish her as a character in her own right.
Season 3 could explore what Agnes wants from her time at Nevermore, how she responds when her expectations are challenged and whether her admiration changes as she becomes more familiar with Wednesday’s less appealing qualities.
The strongest character development would allow Agnes to remain enthusiastic and distinctive while becoming more confident in her own judgment. She would not need to become another version of Wednesday to earn a meaningful place in the story.
Do you think Agnes should become Wednesday’s closest investigative ally, or would her character be more interesting if she developed a completely independent storyline?
