As of writing, plot details for Wednesday Season 3 are still being kept under wraps, although Netflix confirmed over a dozen cast members who will be featured in the new season. Along with most of the main cast from the first two seasons, Beetlejuice star Winona Ryder joins the franchise in a recurring role as a character named Tabitha, and The Princess Bride‘s Chris Sarandon takes on the role of Balthazar. While not much is known about what to expect from this cast of newcomers and veterans, it’s leading star shared some intriguing new insight.
Speaking with Esquire, Wednesday star Jenna Ortega teased some of what to expect from the titular character and her friends when Season 3 arrives. Explaining that Wednesday and her classmates are “seniors in high school now,” this comes with “more confrontational feelings regarding family” and about adulthood as they reach the end of their teenage years. This leads to Wednesday and her crew learning that they may need to “have a plan” for the future, but she stopped short of sharing what that future would hold for the young leading characters:
“This season, especially because the kids are seniors in high school now, we’re dealing with more confrontational feelings regarding family and what it means to be an adult and what you really see for your life. It’s not really until you get to the precipice of adulthood that you start to realize, ‘Oh, God, well, maybe I’ve got to have a plan.'”

These quotes tease one of the biggest shifts yet for Ortega’s Wednesday Addams, who is quickly moving towards her adult phase after a couple of years at Nevermore Academy. The new season is also likely to waste no time putting Wednesday into more dangerous and serious situations after how Season 2 concluded in 2025.
That season ended with Ortega’s leading heroine going off with Fred Armisen’s Uncle Fester (who is also getting his own Netflix spin-off), as they look for Wednesday’s closest friend, Enid Sinclair, played by Emma Myers. Season 2 also showed Enid discovering she was an Alpha werewolf, but after her most recent transformation, there is real concern that she will never be able to revert to human form. This alone will set Wednesday up for her most emotional struggles yet alongside her best friend, and with Eva Green’s Aunt Ophelia Frump in the picture, all bets are off for what may happen with the family drama.
Wednesday Season 3 is currently in production and is scheduled to debut on Netflix sometime in 2027.
