‘Wednesday’ Season 3 Isn’t Destined to Stay at Nevermore Forever

Wednesday season 3 will follow Jenna Ortega’s character through senior year at Nevermore Academy, putting the school’s place in the series under more pressure than before.

The first two seasons were built around Nevermore. Wednesday met Enide there, uncovered secrets tied to the academy, faced Tyler Hyde, and became tangled in mysteries involving students, teachers, and her own family history. Senior year changes that setup because graduation is now part of the story.

Ortega has said season 3 deals with Wednesday and her classmates standing on the “precipice of adulthood.” This fits naturally with a final year at school. That gives the writers a practical reason to start asking what Wednesday’s life could look like once Nevermore is no longer where she spends most of her time.

Wednesday is Getting Closer to Life After School

Wednesday has never shown much interest in following a conventional path, but senior year forces the issue. She can dismiss school traditions, mock her classmates, and resist every attempt to make her act like a typical teenager, but she still has to decide what comes after graduation.

Ortega has also spoken about Wednesday dealing with stronger feelings about family during the new season. That could become especially important if the show starts moving away from school-based stories. Nevermore has given Wednesday a ready-made group of characters to bounce off, from Enid to Bianca to Tyler and the faculty. Once graduation arrives, those relationships may have to continue in a different setting or take separate paths.

Paris is Already Taking Wednesday Season 3 Somewhere New

Netflix has released an image of Wednesday and Thing in Paris near the Eiffel Tower, confirming that at least part of Wednesday season 3 takes place outside Jericho and Nevermore.

The reason for the trip hasn’t been revealed, and Netflix hasn’t said how much of the season is set in France. Still, Paris gives the show a chance to put Wednesday in a completely different environment without relying on the academy. That is useful for a series approaching a point where its main character may soon leave school behind.

Nevermore is still heavily involved in season 3. Production is underway near Dublin, and Netflix has confirmed that new students and teachers will make an appearance.

The Addams Family is Becoming a Bigger Part of the Story

Wednesday season 3 also added more members of the Addams family.

Eva Green joins the cast as Ophelia Frump, Morticia’s sister, whose existence was teased at the end of season 2. The season also adds Winona Ryder, Chris Sarandon, Noah Taylor, Oscar Morgan, and Kennedy Moyer. That gives the show more stories that don’t depend on Nevermore.

Wednesday’s difficult relationship with Morticia has already been a focus in the series, while Gomez, Pugsley, and Grandmama have all become more involved as the plot progressed. Adding Ophelia gives the writers another branch of family history to work with.

For a character whose identity is so closely tied to the Addams family, that material could easily carry the series into a post-Nevermore chapter.

Enid and Tyler Still Have Unfinished Business

(Netflix)

Season 2 left several major character stories unresolved. For example, Enid remains stuck in her alpha werewolf form, while Tyler is still dealing with life as a Hyde without a master controlling him.

Both storylines give Wednesday season 3 plenty to deal with before Wednesday reaches graduation. They also create reasons for her to spend time outside the academy, especially if helping either character takes her away from Nevermore.

The new season will run for eight episodes, matching the length of season 1 and 2.

Nevermore is Still Part of Season 3

Netflix hasn’t said that Wednesday will leave Nevermore after season 3, and the academy remains central to the upcoming episodes. The difference is that the story now has an obvious point where that could change. Senior year gives Wednesday a natural endpoint at the school, while Paris and the growing focus on the Addams family show that the series already has places to go beyond it.

Production on Wednesday season 3 began near Dublin in February 2026. Netflix hasn’t announced an official premiere date, but the season is expected to arrive in 2027.
