But there’s still a lot left to explore, and fresh new angles to tackle. Nevermore’s future is in limbo, and it’s summer break, so all the kids will be busy enjoying their time off. For Wednesday (Jenna Ortega), she has important things to take care of. And if she keeps up her part of the deal and stays with her grandmother for the summer, she will likely discover a deep, dark Frump secret that was revealed at the end of the Season 2 finale.
Who Will Be in ‘Wednesday’ Season 3?
Season 3 of Wednesday was confirmed before Season 2 even premiered. There’s no official casting announcement, but most of the main cast of Wednesday is expected back for Season 3. This includes Ortega as the title character alongside Hunter Doohan as Tyler, Emma Myers as Enid, Joy Sunday as Bianca, Georgie Farmer as Ajax, Moosa Mostafa as Eugene, Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley, Billie Piper as Isadora, Victor Dorobantu as Thing, Evie Templeton as Agnes, Luiz Guzmán as Gomez, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia, and Joanna Lumley as Grandmama Hester Frump.
A few characters are unlikely to return unless it’s in a ghostly way, as with Gwendoline Christie this season, who was a pleasant surprise return as Larissa Weems. Donovan Galpin (Jamie McShane), Marilyn Thornhill (Christina Ricci), Barry Dort (Steve Buscemi), Isaac Night (Owen Painter), Judy Spannagel (Heather Matarazzo), Professor Orloff (Christopher Lloyd), Dr. Rachael Fairburn (Thandiwe Newton), and Françoise Gilpin (Frances O’Connor) all met their ends in Season 2. But never say never: anything could happen.
When it comes to other minor characters like Bruno (Noah B. Taylor), it’s unclear if they will return. Some characters, like Isadora Capri, could have expanded roles in the next season. One new character is confirmed, Ophelia, which means someone has been cast in that role. It’s possible Zeta-Jones could be tapped to play the dual role, following in the footsteps of Carolyn Jones, who played both characters in the original sitcom. Or it could be someone like frequent Tim Burton collaborator Winona Ryder. But nothing has been confirmed as yet beyond the fact that Ophelia will indeed be a bigger part of the story

What Happens With Enid?
First and foremost is Wednesday’s plans for the summer, which involve searching for the infectiously sweet Enid with the help of Uncle Fester (Fred Armisen). With Enid having “wolfed out” as an Alpha during a full moon solely for the purpose of saving Wednesday’s life, there’s no way Wednesday won’t fulfill her promise to find her friend. Since Enid runs the risk of never being able to switch back to her human form, the stakes are high. It’s up to Wednesday to pull rabbits out of hats as she often does to help.
The Secret of Ophelia
With plans to stay at her grandmother’s house for the summer, fans fully expect Wednesday to put two and two together with her psychic visions and figure out that her grandmother has secretly been keeping Ophelia locked in a basement for decades. She isn’t dead, as everyone has been led to believe since she disappeared from the institution two decades ago. And the ramifications of this revelation will permeate throughout the Addams family.
Morticia gifting Wednesday her aunt’s journal proved more useful than the mother might have realized, helping unlock Wednesday’s ability and create a synergy between niece and aunt that could finally free Ophelia and give Wednesday answers.
Why is Hester doing this? Before jumping to conclusions, it’s worth considering that the reason could be honorable. Hester might have wanted to protect her daughter from being killed or experimented on, but also recognized that she had gone mad and could not be out in society for fear of being taken away again or harming herself or others. Or it could be something sinister. What’s most puzzling is why Ophelia was writing her desire to see Wednesday dead on the wall in her room.
When Will ‘Wednesday’ Season 3 Be Released?
With a two-and-a-half-year wait between Seasons 1 and 2, along with a month wait between parts one and two of Season 2, fans are hoping they won’t have to wait as long for Season 3. It’s anticipated that production will begin in early 2026, which would suggest a mid-to-late 2027 release. That’s still a year-and-a-half to two years, but at least the wait won’t be as long. However, fans should expect a season released in two parts once again, a strategy Netflix has employed for many of its most popular shows.
For now, fans will have to wait to learn anything concrete about the new season beyond the fact that it will explore the stories left unresolved in Season 2. This includes Enid’s status as she heads north towards Canada in wolf form, Tyler’s future with Isadora, and the mystery of Aunt Ophelia. To reveal any other details, showrunner Miles Millar jokes, “I’d have to bury you in a shallow grave.”
