The star-studded roster of Wednesday season 3 has grown ever larger.
Netflix announced that Wednesday season 3 has added three new cast members to its ensemble. The Addams Family series, which is currently in production near Dublin, will now include Game of Thrones vet Lena Headey, Ted Lasso vet James Lance, and The Resident‘s Andrew McCarthy in guest roles.
Information about their characters is currently under wraps, though the streamer’s announcement indicated they will be part of Nevermore Academy, as the institution welcomes new teachers and students.
Headey is best known for playing Cersei Lannister on the hit HBO fantasy series Game of Thrones, which aired for eight seasons from 2011 to 2019. The role earned her nominations at the Emmys, Golden Globes, SAG Awards, Critics’ Choice Awards, and Saturn Awards. Her new film, Ballistic, will be released in theaters on April 17.
Meanwhile, Lance landed Emmy and SAG Award nominations for playing Trent Crimm on the hit Apple TV series Ted Lasso. McCarthy’s acting credits over the years include St. Elmo’s Fire, Weekend at Bernie’s, The Joy Luck Club, Gossip Girl and The Resident; he’s also directed episodes of Orange is the New Black and The Blacklist, among other shows.
Headey, Lance, and McCarthy are not the only newcomers to Wednesday season 3. It was previously announced that Stranger Things‘ Winona Ryder, The Princess Bride‘s Chris Sarandon, Game of Thrones‘ Noah Taylor, A Knight of the Seven Kingdom‘s Oscar Morgan, and Task‘s Kennedy Moyer have all been cast in the upcoming installment as well.
Additionally, Penny Dreadful‘s Eva Green is joining the series as Morticia Addams’ sister, Ophelia Frump.
Headey is the latest Game of Thrones franchise star to join Wednesday, following Taylor, Morgan, and Gwendoline Christie, who played Larissa Weems in the first two seasons.
They join returning cast members Jenna Ortega, Emma Myers, Hunter Doohan, Joy Sunday, Moosa Mostafa, Georgie Farmer, Isaac Ordonez, Billie Piper, Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo, Victor Dorobantu, Evie Templeton, Luis Guzmán, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Joanna Lumley and Fred Armisen.
Wednesday season 2 ended with Ortega’s titular character seeing a vision of Grandmama holding Ophelia captive, with the latter writing a message saying, “Wednesday Must Die.” Ophelia has been a missing member of the family on the show, and the shocking circumstances surrounding her location are finally starting to be revealed. The upcoming season will likely delve into this mystery, as the Addams family secrets bubble to the surface.
Since filming is currently underway on the new season of Wednesday, a premiere date hasn’t been announced yet, but the Addams Family spinoff will likely return sometime in 2027 after a two-year hiatus.
