‘Wednesday’ Season 3: Everything We Know About Netflix’s Hit Series

Wednesday teaser

You know the saying: “Bad things come in threes.” Wednesday will make its dreadful return for a third season on Netflix. The platform’s mega-hit dark fantasy series scratches that ’90s Tim Burton itch for viewers who love the auteur’s flair for the macabre combined with a coming-of-age story. In it, Wednesday Addams, played to deadly perfection by Jenna Ortega, attends Nevermore Academy, a school for superpowered teens called Outcasts. As if mingling with the living isn’t challenging enough, our titular antihero and gifted Raven solves baffling mysteries as the school’s resident Nancy Drew.

The eight-episode first season debuted on the streamer on Nov. 23, 2022, with Season 2 premiering almost three years later on Aug. 6, 2025. With the slew of Season 3 casting announcements reigniting conversation on social media, Wednesday is back in the zeitgeist. Let’s dive into everything we know about the show’s highly anticipated third season.

Netflix renewed Wednesday for Season 3 ahead of its Season 2 debut last August. It’s unusual for the streamer to grant renewals before a season premiere. However, the numbers don’t lie – Wednesday is a bona fide hit for Netflix. The week of the Season 2, Part 1 drop saw 3.75 billion minutes watched (or 50 million views) per the U.S. streaming charts. It was the second-largest minutes log for one week for any title in 2025, clocking in just behind Squid Game Season 3. Meanwhile, Season 2, Part 2 racked up 28.2 million views during its debut week, a decrease from the first part.

According to Netflix, Wednesday Season 1 takes the crown as number one on the Top 10 Most Popular Shows of All Time list on a global scale, even beating out Stranger Things Seasons 3 and 4, while Season 2 sits at number five on the same list. Even with the drop in viewership for Season 2, Part 2, Netflix is confident enough in the show’s staying power to greenlight a third season. As with the first two seasons, Season 3 will boast eight episodes. It’s unclear whether it’ll be split into two parts like Season 2 or return to the full-episode drop format of the show’s inaugural season.
